WHITMAN Lori (Archer) Toomey, a past president of the Whitman Mothers Club who helped out with the Randolph Oilers semiprofessional football team, died May 19 on her 60th birthday at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Mrs. Toomey died having fought a "courageous and inspirational battle with cancer," said her daughter, Nicole Tropeano of Abington.

She was born in Dorchester and raised in Canton, and had been a resident of Whitman for 31 years. She worked for Perkins Paper Inc. in Taunton as an administrative assistant. She organized trade shows for the company, including one at Gillette Stadium, her daughter said.

Mrs. Toomey was a member and past president of the Whitman Mothers Club. She was also involved with the Randolph Oilers, helping with concessions and fund-raising.

She enjoyed sewing quilts, baking, and entertaining. "She would have 20 people at her house for Thanksgiving . . . always the one entertaining the troops," her daughter said. Mrs. Toomey, who wanted to be a grandmother, was an overjoyed "Nana" at the birth of her first grandson on May 1, her daugher said.

She also leaves her husband, Richard of Whitman; another daughter, Erin Petersen of East Bridgewater; a son, Christopher of Whitman; and two sisters, Marjorie O'Kane of Randolph and Virginia Nye of Whitman.

A funeral service was held May 23 in the Church of the Holy Ghost, Whitman. Burial was in St. James Cemetery, Whitman.
